Building anutha Bike why oh why do I do this

Well Today a few more Parts Arrived for the Project Bike .

(Click on the "Building anutha Bike why oh why do i do this"for the link to the other nightmare)

Over the course of the last 7 Months i've been Collecting ,buying and hunting down parts for my Last Bike . Last as in I don't plan to build anutha one , yeah i said that last time though .

I Cast my mind back to last year when i sold my little black Bandit Chop , me an it had some great times together a very basic Hardtail Bike no frills or extra crap on it just a 400lb 125 BHP + bike that would rip the arms out of my sockets and to make life intresting it had fuck all ground clearence .built that in 2003 there 's a link to the first version hearabouts. Loved that bike so much i put 17,000 miles on it in 6 months , beileve you me the UK ain't very big but when you ride a bike you love that much its suprising how quickly the miles rack up.

So onto the "Harley" Up until April Last year i had never owned or ridden one , actually as a kid with no brains (older now still no brains though) i hated Harleys "overpriced old age piles of slow overweight crap" seemed to be in my mind often , my bruvver was a Harley lover then and still is now but due to other circumstances he won't ever be able to ride a bike so we would allways argue . he'd defend the Motor Company to the point of blood being spilled between us i never could understand his conviction of a bike he would never own .

So April last year i rang him up "Barrie i've bought anutha bike" him "wot is it?" me "its a Harley FXR" him "........................................." silence i shit myself why well he swore if i ever bought one he would break both of my legs as he thought i'd buy one to abuse it (me never) so after a sharp intake of and realisizing he hand't slammed the phone down to get in his car and drive 100 miles to bust me legs he simply said "send me some photographs" then he slammed the fucking phone down .

I rode the bike a lot last year did a few Rallies then in July that evil little bastid inside my head painted a picture of a Custom harley ...........uh oh...........!!!! .

Well that fucker has been sitting there inside my head that bike since 1976 yeah i saw easyrider and i remember thinking how fucking wicked it would be to one day build my own custom harley Hardtail ..............

so here we are it's feburary i've been living on £32 a week buying value food from the supermarket and value beer (tastes awfull but it's cheaper than bottled water go figure that huh) and of course my rolling bacci , all the rest of my wages pay the bills which thankfully are cheap here the rest goes on that goddam evil little bastid dream in my head so the parts are piling up in the bedroom ., i've even thrown my bed away to make more room in there for the build . its  ok it was a crap bed and i've got a sofa to sleep on.

The collection is almost complete bar a few small parts in 2 months or so  i'll be filling up a friends car with everything then its a short road trip to the other side of the UK to the poor sod i have elected to build the frame .

whilst i can wrench an spanner stuff quite well i can't weld so not being that stupid (honest i'm not) Joe will do the sticking the metal parts together part . Once thats done i'll drag the lot home chuck everything into a local Powdercoaters to have everything possible coated in a flat black colour i don't do fancy paint i use my bike to ride rally and party so it ends up looking like a pack mule most of the time when i'm travelling

with luck and obviosulsy with a bit more money they'll be a part 2 on here to this nightmare showing the dry build minus the engine coz i still need the FXR on the road till the last minite as its my only means of transport when i'm not working and i will put the FXR Engine back in the fxr in a few years as i'm only borrowing it coz even when the first version is built and being used i have this other urge to get a rather Special Motor for my Last Bike Build

but that'll have to wait a while

Building it to be basic and fuctional , no frills thing it'll sort itself out as its built they'll be a few shiny bits on it to start with and when i get fed up polishing it they'll end up in the powdecoater . nah like i said the bed was fucked up anyhow no loss i got rather drunk one night fell on it and snapped the centre post up untill i smashed it up to make room for the bike build i was using a trolley jack to hold it together

LMAO...so your better off on the couch. i cant wait to see bike pics as it comes together. very cool

Well i thought "hey i better see if the bloody bike runs being as i ain't been out on it since the end of October last year" I used to ride all year round but due to the Injuries i've erm suffered its too fucking painfull but I do tend to get out from the end of Feb till the End of October, so with the bike sitting here in me living room and on a Optimate Trickle charger since i last rode it i thought "hmmmmmmm i wonder if it'll fire up its still got the same petrol in it from last year that maybe a bit stale ah fuckit letshave a go" so key in spin the motor over about 8 times for 5 seconds to build up the Oil Pressure then a 10 Second final Spin , full Choke and fist push it Fires up god i love that sound yehaa.......there a bit fucking loud inside the house though , but being the kind thoughtfull chap i am i did check to see that all me Neighbours where at work first....honest i did . So thats one other thing sorted out now i've gotta get the right hand fork seal replaced and re-fit the Indicators as its due its Yearly MOT Check in April without that over here you can't get it Road Taxed . After that it'stime to touch yer ankles and get shafted by the Insurance Renewal Quote next Month

Rat mate it ould be bloody handy to sort the pics thing out coz when i finally get round to the assembley stage they'll be a shit load of Pictures appearing , but no real rush its still a pile of parts till then End of May

mq01 said...

did you really make sure the neighbors werent home?!?.... LOL...

Unknown said...

I did a total ground up in the spare bedroom of an upstairs apartment in my youth..Hanging parts from the rafters and shooting black lacquer..First ride was down the stairs, around the pool and out the back gate..made alot of friends that early Sunday morning..

Pug said...

yer i did go outside to check none of the neighbours cars where there i share me block with 3 other flats so no point having the housing agency screaming there head off at me i like living here .

first place i've ever had thats mine i can stay here till they put me remains in a box or a dustbin , thats another reason i wanna build the Bike coz i'v now gotta permenant home .its onl taken me 48 years to get one .

erm i think this'll be the 5tf bike i've built indoors , worst one was a CBX1000 6 cylinder that was on the 2nd floor in a one roomed besdit when yer take into account i had a single bed a wardrobe a sink a cooker and a telly in a Room 6ft by 14ft plus the whole bike i did rather well , i did have to get me bruvver in to help get the bloody thing up an down the stairs though.

pics would be nice - can you post links in comments? - I have a garage - it's all mine and it's filled with crap that isn't mine - which is ok for now cuz with the friggin' economy I can't afford the time of day let alone parts and a base bike - maybe I should rent out the garage to a family and build in the house - it has heat - the garage doesn't

Pug said...

can't post pics in comments at the moment ths blog site currently doesn't let yer . theres a load of pics in me FXR Album on the Drama Site that begins with a B

Bar the Frame and engine i've collected enuf parts now to build a whole bike

just now need two months of saving enuf money to pay for the Frame Build

Unknown said...

Pug said...

Unknown said...

Por Nada...Just got to post pics as it comes together..

mq01 said...

yup, build and park 'em in the house, its more comfy :) i can start to picture it...wheels, tank, springer, risers, seat, open belt, i think i see the beginnings of it...

Pug said...

yer i can see it meself sometimes lmao , mostlry its a pile of boxes inside the Bedroom .thought about using wire wheels but that means tubed tyres and anyhow i thought why not use a pair of Fatboy Wheels you don't see many people doing that and there Tubeless Tyres as a bonus , Tanks a Fatbob single unit not a split tank , that was 470 mile round trip to pick up but as i did 2 other people favours the Tank ended up costing me $30 and its complete with Caps a Tap and the Dash Unit .

it'll be a basic bike but due to the fact no fucker here makes any parts for Harley they either come from Europe or the USA so the Prices are way up by the time we buy em over here Example Ultima Street Kit was £775 exhange rate is $1.50 = £1 it all adds up

Unknown said...

Had them stacked in bedrooms, living rooms and garages..you know what you want,,build, twist, turn and tweak..change, fix and redo..then one day it's right..you ride..

Pug said...

well a greatbig pile ofwiring arrivedin 12 diferent colours today , so thats anutha thing off me list , i just hope i don't need 12 seperate colours in the fuckin loom .

Next Up is to get the FXR sortedout for its yearly Inspection , then the road fund licence and finally the Insurance

Looking Forward too April as i'll be off away to me first Rally a chance to catch up with a few mates get drunk ,listen to live music and sleep in a fucking cold tent but i'll be so drunk i won't notice
